Toast Setup Requirements

What to check in Toast before starting the mapping in Datahub

Before you can complete the mapping in Omniboost DataHub, it's important to finalize your Toast setup first. DataHub pulls its categories, revenue centers, and service charges directly from your Toast environment, so configuring Toast correctly is a crucial first step before mapping Toast to your PMS in DataHub.

This guide covers what DataHub needs from Toast, and links out to Toast's own instructions for setting each one up.

What to check in Toast

Work through the Toast configurations below:

Revenue centers

Revenue centers represent the different outlets or service areas at your property. DataHub uses them to organize your mapping: once revenue centers are configured in Toast, you can map sales categories, tax, and service charges differently for each one.

ℹ️ No revenue centers configured?

Toast ships a few standard revenue centers (Bar, Patio, Dining Room) by default. If you don't use them, you can remove them in Toast so they don't clutter your DataHub mapping screen.

Tax Rates

All tax rates linked to sales items in Toast are pulled into DataHub to map to your PMS. Configure the required tax rates in Toast and link them to your sales items before completing the mapping in DataHub.

Service Charges

Service charges and gratuity need to be set up in Toast so they can be mapped to the correct code in DataHub.

Sales Categories

Every menu item needs a sales category assigned, whether inherited from the menu or menu group, or set individually. DataHub maps these categories to revenue codes in your PMS, so revenue posts correctly.

If even one item is missing a sales category, that item's revenue won't be accounted for. Check under Menus → Advanced Properties → Sales Category that every item has a sales category, then Save and Publish.

Payment Methods

Toast automatically creates a Room Charge payment option once your PMS integration is requested. If you're using Full Revenue Push (posting all payment types, not just room charges), you'll need to map your Toast payment methods in DataHub. Any adjustments or additions to these payment methods are made in Toast.
